I have been painting for some 35 years now and enjoy the constant challenge of form, light and experimenting with many different mediums. I enjoy painting a wide variety of subject matter including landscape, figures, wild animals and portraits. Recently I have been developing more contemporary pieces which I create using impasto and relief utilising many experimental mediums such as wax, shoe polish, Polyfilla, tin foil etc.
Painting for me is a constant work in progress and brings new experiences and surprises with every creation. The pieces in this exhibition are painted in acrylics, oils and watercolours with white gouache.
I have been a part of Newbridge Popupart since its inception and have exhibited at the Dublin Arts Festival as part of Brent Pope’s Outsider Art Project. I have also had pieces shown locally and currently have a number of works on sale in Hokey Pokey’s, and Muse Interiors, Newbridge. I had a solo exhibition in the Lazy Bean Cafe in my home town in Cahir, Co.Tipperary. It is always a privilege when a member of the public admires or purchases a piece of my work as it is a very encouraging endorsement and motivation to keep trying.
